Hello
Thank you for posting in our Q&A forum.
It sounds like you’re encountering an error message that says “The BitLocker encryption on this drive isn’t compatible with your version of Windows. Try opening the drive using a newer version of Windows.” This error message can occur if the BitLocker version used to encrypt the drive is incompatible with the BitLocker version supported by the currently running Windows or if the data on the drive is corrupted.
One possible solution is to check the connection of the drive. Safely eject the BitLocker encrypted drive from your computer, re-attach it into a different USB port and see if the issue is resolved. If that doesn’t work, try accessing the drive from another Windows computer that has a newer version of Windows installed.
If none of these solutions work, you may need to use a BitLocker data recovery tool to recover your data from the encrypted drive. M3 Data Recovery is one such tool that may be able to help you recover your data.
It’s also worth noting that if you have a recovery key saved to your Microsoft account, you can use it to unlock the drive. To find your recovery key, open a web browser on another device and go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey. Sign in with your Microsoft account and look for the recovery key associated with your device.
