Attempting to use robocopy to get files off an old Mac to a Windows machine (given it's around 2TB of data - old photos, videos, music, documents ) and getting the "Error -2146893818 (0x80090006)" in Windows (also get the 0x80090006 Invalid Signature error when I attempted copying via Explorer).

I also tried copying to the Windows machine from the Mac and I get the error "can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)" in Finder - yet I've connected to the Windows machine with an Admin account.

I also have an old 8tb DAS drive on the Mac, which has loads of old data which I want to keep, but again the Windows machine will not directly connect due to it being a firewire drive which is Mac formatted - so piecemeal via USB sticks and FAT32 is out.

Can someone please suggest a fix?

    Hello @Neil Cudmore

Since Robocopy is primarily designed for Windows-to-Windows file transfers, using it for cross-platform file transfers between macOS and Windows may have limitations. Cryptography and file attributes on macOS are handled differently from Windows, and this can lead to compatibility issues.

I would suggest using cloud storage (e.g OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox) or other 3rd party file transfer tools.
