Hello,

I have bought this windows server license: Windows Server 2022 Standard - 16 Core License Pack‎.

I want to install on my host two windows server 2022 virtual machines. ( Actually one host with two vm guests). For those virtual machines do i need additional licenses to activate them?

0xC004C020 == The activation server reported that the Multiple Activation Key has exceeded its limit.

    Might try phone activation

If the host is correctly licensed (your 16 core pack covers the core count on the host) then yes you can run 2 x VMs.

    Some general info

    • Each host needs to be licensed.
    • A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
    • Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
    • Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
    • DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.

You can simply active your two guests with the same host product key.

I have already activated both hosts with the same activation key.

It would be a legal violation to reuse the same product key on another physical host

Isn't it logical for the virtual machines to require additional licenses in the end?

For Standard server you just reuse the host product key in order to activate guests.
