Hi guys,

We are planning to host all of our content source files for packages/applications on a new Windows Server 2022, and the server will not host any site system. Does the Windows server need to have port 445 opened to the distribution points? Do we need any additional ports opened with the site systems?

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Per my experience, you don't need to configure the firewall ports between the source file server with your DPs.

The DPs don't get the files directly from the content source server. When you create a new package from the administrator console that hasn't been distributed to any DPs yet, what happens is the site server copies it from the content source location into the content library. Then it goes from the site server to your DPs.

For more details about creating a new package, please refer to:

Package actions in content distribution

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Simon
