Message encoding problem in Exchange Server 2016

We have application(Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0) that send out emails through the application(mails are sent with smtp on-prem exchange 2016) and an issue we are running into is some specific country letters don't get translated correctly when sent to mailboxes inside company(works sending outside, for example O365 or Google). For instance, when message includes letters with roofs like ž or š they will be modified to random symbols.

Application AX 4.0 e-mail parameters are our local exchange.

I have researched some Microsoft topics and I think it is related with encoding or Supported Character Set, but I really could not find a guide where to change or add the supported region settings or etc...

    Hi @Markus Veismann ,

    To scope the question, what if you don't use Dynamics AX?

    If not using "Dynamics AX" will also be converted to random symbols by exchange, can you provide a sample of the random symbols?

    Are you checking emails through the Outlook client? How about in OWA?

    If the recipient uses Outlook to view the email, you could change the encoding as shown below.

    Thank you for the answer. I attached photo of letters I sent from AX and also picture of owa where message is receieved.

    Does not matter if checking messagein owa or Outlook

    Yes when sending through owa or in the Outlook app then these specials letters stay normal. We have tried to look for option to change it in AX, but we could not find an option for that.

    Based on the test results, seems like it’s not an issue with Exchange side, and as you’ve mentioned, you may need to look for option to change it in AX. Please understand that the Exchange server tag is to support questions related to Exchange and Dynamics AX is currently not supported in Q&A. Given this situation, I’d recommend reposting to the dedicated " Microsoft Dynamics AX forum", so that community users there who are more familiar with Dynamics AX can help look into your question.
