Hey Guys ,

We are getting the below error while running the pipelines with specific timerange. If anyone has faced and got solution for this please let us know.

Operation on target Restructring Generic Workflow Tables failed: Activity failed because an inner activity failed; Inner activity name: Restructure Generic Workflow Tables, Error: The expression 'item().name' cannot be evaluated because property 'name' cannot be selected. Property selection is not supported on values of type 'String'.

Could you please add more info on the Timerange, any Images or screenshots?

Does it run successfully when out of the TimeRange? wanted to check if this issue consistent or Random?

What is the Expression you have used? any sample scenario which we can test or repro?

It seems like you are trying to select a property on a string value? in your pipeline, which is not supported in ADF. The error message indicates that the expression 'item().name' cannot be evaluated because property 'name' cannot be selected.

To resolve this issue, you need to make sure that you are selecting a property on a complex type, such as an object or an array, rather than a string value. You can check the expression used in the pipeline activity and make sure that it is referencing a complex type.

Yes Satish,

We have a generic pipeline which will get data from snowflake and ingest it into multiple tables (passed in global parameters) and type is set to string. That pipeline is working fine. But we have another pipeline to run only one table at a time instead of executing all the tables. That pipeline is throwing the above property name error.

[{"name":"DWRE","numeric_columns":"BOTH"},{"name":"HWRE","numeric_columns":"BOTH"}] -- Generic parameters we pass it as string. But we in another pipeline we use to pass only DWRE or HWRE instead of multiple tables.

Hope this will provide you some clarity on the process flow.

Could you please add info where is the above expression used? is it in the Execute Pipeline (Calling pipeline)? or the inner (Called) Pipeline?

Yes, execute pipeline is throwing this "The expression 'item().name' cannot be evaluated" but it's referring the inner pipeline (Main pipeline - Workflow Generic).Backfill per workflow pipeline is the execute pipeline which references the workflow Generic pipeline.
