Hello,

I'm little bit confused about VM pricing. I'd like understand VM pricing deeply and I haven't find answers to my questions, respectively the information are conflicting.

I fill pricing calculator form and the result is let't say 1 USD/hour.

My questions are:

  • Will I pay this amount every hour the VM will run regardless of its load? Or Azure has some metric and final price depends on actual load? Very simplified example: 50 % CPU and GPU load is 50 % of amount = 0.5 USD?
  • The VM should have OS drive (I guess 128 GB). Does the pricing calculator amout contain this drive or it is billed extra?

Thank you.

    Hi,

A: Yes, you pay the amount for every hour the VM is running, regardless of load. If the VM is Deallocated, then you don't pay this Compute charge.

The VM should have OS drive (I guess 128 GB). Does the pricing calculator amout contain this drive or it is billed extra?

A: The price of the OS and any additional attached Disks are extra, except for the temporary disk, if the VM size you are using includes a temporary disk. Please see managed disk pricing page:

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/managed-disks/

There are other common potential charges related to a VM such as but not limited to data transfer and public IP address.

    Thanks.
