Hi,

When I launch my laptop, my touchpad and keyboard stop working after some time ranging from a couple of mins thru half an hour. However, if I plug an USB mouse in, it works. Rebooting or placing the laptop to sleep or hibernation removes the problem but only for a short time. Also, it seems that the time to stop gets shorter with every sleep/hibernation cycle made in a sequence.

The laptop is Vaio, CPU i7-4500U 1.80-2.39 GHz, RAM 4,00 GB, SSD 128 GB (about 96% full as it's really small), Win 10 Pro 64bit Czech fully updated. It had some problems with the touchpad driver in the past - the latest version was disabling the touchpad, resolved with keeping the 2nd latest driver version. The keyboard/laptop base is carbon and thus not very rigid so the touchpad sometimes does not work very well after transporting the laptop by holding its edge only. Also, the devices heats but that seems to be inherent and happens from the first day. (It's thin and compact and thus it's vents are very small.)

No viruses/malware found. Checked the HW Manager, no issues there either. In a log however, I found this error: 'Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout'. Not sure if it's the culprit but it was the only one that happend around the critical time. Checked this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/i-get-event-id10010-error-server-did-not-register/dcdacaa3-d894-4d4b-ada5-56817b072905?page=2

However, my settings are as requested there.

Any ideas please?

    Update Touchpad Driver.

    Open Device Manager.

Right-click the name of the device, then select Uninstall device.

Select Uninstall and then restart your PC.

Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

If Windows doesn't find a new driver and reinstalling the driver doesn’t help, visit the support site of the manufacturer to download and install the latest compatible driver.

Try running the keyboard troubleshooter from Settings > System > Troubleshooters > Additional Troubleshooters.

Change the USB port of the keyboard.

    Reset the default DCOM permissions

    a.       Click Start and select Run, type dcomcnfg, and press Enter.

    b.      Expand Componet Services\Computers, right-click My Computer and select Properties.

    c.       In the Default Distributed COM Communication Properties section of Default Properties tab, make sure that:

Default Authentication Level is set to Connect

Default Impersonation Level is set to Identify
