Upgrade Business Premium AAD P1 to P2

I would like to purchase Business Premium licenses from my local partner as I get to pay in my local currency. However, if I upgrade the AAD P1 included in the package to P2 via Microsoft how much extra do I need to pay? Do I need to pay for a whole P2 license?

Hi @rainbow_guy ,

if you "upgrade"/change from Azure AD Premium P1 to Azure Azure AD Premium P2 you will pay the price of P2 and stopped paying the price for P1 after the change got active.

You don't pay P1 and P2 in addition. You will pay just the plan you selected and which is active.

Based on the price information here you will pay 9 US$ instead of 6 US$ per user per month if you switch from P1 to P2:

Makes sense what you said but say Business Premium is $22 and comes with P1. I upgrade to P2, I need to pay $22 + $9?

Not fair on Microsoft as it seems we are paying for both at the same time, $6 P1 + $9 P2

We are in similar situation. We have Microsoft 365 E3 which include Entra ID P1. We would like to use Entra ID PIM which is part of P2. So if we upgrade to P2 we would need to pay to whole 9$ and not the diff? If so, could we assign P2 to just some users, since we do not need PIM for all our users?
