In our Environment, we had bunch of Windows 2016 Standard OS VMs. Usually we install all applicable updates via WSUS from at least 2.5 years during Monthly OS patching.

Now (07-2023), Tenable is recommending to install KB4494175 in our Windows 2016 Standard OS VMs. Tried installing update by downloading and install from MS catalog (2020-09) .. system returned "The update is not applicable for your computer".

Can someone please help me, what would be the reason for the error? Is it got superseded by any other update? or The Update is not applicable for Standard Windows 2016 OS?

KB4494175 is an Intel microcode update.

I think this should be installed on the host OS, not the guest OS.
