We have internal users from various department is accessing the same to save data on this server, data is accessible on department wise.

Finance department too has data on same server, 98% data is stored in excel files. These excel files are interlinked to each other. Numerous links within these files.

Looking at potential risk of having data on physical server, we proposed to have it on cloud.

We planned to shift this data on SharePoint, other department data has been moved. However, in case of Finance department, though we have made copy of data on SharePoint, though data output in excel file is perfect. We are getting errors in opening linked files within excel.

We have deployed same folder structure for this, but while opening files, it is looking for SharePoint site address.

Error screen attached for reference.

We need solution on this, as manually changing the source path is very difficult.

    Hi Emily

    Please see attached

I am experiencing similar issues to the OP. Mainly workbooks being 'locked for editing' despite edit priviliges being granted to all accessing team members.

    Please advise,

    Thanks

I have tested the situation you provided and here are my test results.

    1.Create excel file named 0802.

    2.Create excel file named 0802(1).

    3.Create a link point to 0802(1) in the 0802.

4.When 0802 is stored in the local, the link point to 0802(1) as following picture shows.

    User's image

5.After 0802 has uploaded into the SharePoint Online, the link point to 0802(1) as following picture shows.

    1

According to test results, after 0802 has uploaded into the SharePoint Online, the link in this excel file automatically changed.

So, I suggest you upload all excel files into one document library.
