Hi.

I have an Azure Windows 2019 Server VM.

I have 7 users that need to remote to the machine from their workstation.

Currently, the default for this is 2 connections, I need 7 simultaneous connections.

I have spent a week trying to find someone who can advise exactly what RDP CALs to get. I can't find anyone that will tell me where to buy them or what exactly I need. I logged into CDW and they had a bunch of different options for 5 CAL RDP licenses.

Can someone please send me a link as to where I can buy these double secret CALs from?

Thanks!

    Hi Sharyn,

First step is to select the licensing program that best fits your company and needs. Below document has comparison:

    https://download.microsoft.com/download/1/F/5/1F5357DD-F7C8-4CC8-8C5F-7F6B1569ECF0/Transactional_Licensing_Comparison_Chart.pdf

Once you know the licensing program then you can select the correct SKU that includes Software Assurance (SA) for the correct term. For multi-year term for small quantity (7 in your case) I would expect your price to be over $200/each.

Please note that you need to purchase enough RDS User CALs with SA to cover the total number of unique humans that will be connecting. The 2 connections you referred to above are for administrative purposes only.

Your RDS server will need to be domain joined so that RDS Per User licensing will work properly.

If CDW is your preferred reseller, I recommend you call them and ask to speak to a Microsoft licensing specialist. They will help you determine the correct licensing program for you, answer your questions regarding pros/cons of each, get you enrolled, etc.

After you have made your purchase and have been enrolled in the license program you will receive the necessary agreement and license numbers to allow you to install the RDS User CALs on your RD Licensing server.

    Thanks.

    -TP
