Can i use the Windows Server 2012 R2 license for the Windows 2016?

Since Windows Server 2012 R2 is already reaching its end of life, I would like to ask if it is possible to use the Windows Server 2012 R2 Licenses details to a Windows 2016 when I upgrade the server.

    No, that would not work. Server 2016 is a different product SKU that requires a Server 2016 product key in order to activate.
