How to remove a user from cloud

Hello,

My organization is a hybrid and when a user left the company, their account is converted to a shared mailbox and 90 days later the account converts back to a user account without a license and disabled status in AD. However, I have the following issue; the offboarded user remains in Dynamic distribution lists(DDL) because his attributes remain in Exo even if his account is disabled.

Is there a way to remove a user only from the cloud(EXO) and keep it in AD?

Thanks in advance,

    Hello @Alper Kunada !

    Welcome to Microsoft QnA!

    Yes it is possible

You have to remove the user from the Sync Process from AD to Azure AD, either by filtering via OUs\Groups and the user wont be part of the OU \ Group or using the Synchronization Rules Editor in AD Connect

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/hybrid/connect/how-to-connect-sync-configure-filtering

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/hybrid/connect/how-to-connect-sync-change-the-configuration

Once the next Sync is run the user will be removed from Cloud but remain in Active Directory

    I hope this helps!
