create certificate for RDWeb

Remote Desktop has been successfully installed on virtual machine which is a win2016 server. Connecting to that machine using Remote Desktop to port 3389 works as well.

Now I setup RDWeb but there the issue begins. I can login to the server using a browser, Applications defined in Application pool are all visualized but as soon as i download rdp-file containing all relevant information I get an error all about the certificate, which seems not to be recognized as valid certificate to the connecting device. Now copying that certificate into the certificate repository on local machine still doesn't help and error message all about an invalid certificate is again issued.

During creation of certificates on server configuring RemoteDesktop gateway I did not get any errors, all of them have been applied and marked as successful when editing RD Settings.

Any help on that certificate issue is highly appreciated!

    Hello @gui planes

I completely understand your concerns. Handling certificates within an RDS environment can indeed be a bit challenging. However, I would suggest taking a look at read Using certificates in Remote Desktop Services | Microsoft Learn   first. This guide might help you ensure that all the configurations are accurate.

Is the SSL certificate self-signed or issued by a certificate authority (CA)?

Does the Common Name (CN) on the SSL certificate match the domain or hostname you're using to access the server?
