Can I restore a specific file or folder from Azure backups to a new location on the same drive?

Yes, you can restore a specific file or folder from Azure backups to a new location on the same drive.

Open the Azure Portal and log in.
Navigate to the Recovery Services Vault containing the backup you want to restore from.
Click on "Backup items" in the left-hand menu and select the appropriate backup item.
Click on the "Restore" button at the top of the page.
In the Restore Configuration page, select "Files and folders" as the restore type.
Explore the backup to find the specific file or folder you want to restore.
Select the checkbox next to the file or folder you want to restore.
Click on the "Download" button at the top of the page.
Choose the restore destination, either the original location or a new location on the same drive.
Click "OK" to start the restore process.
Monitor the restore progress from the "Jobs" view in the Recovery Services Vault.

Thank you. I was able to restore the database file.

I see that I have another backup for "Azure Virtual Machine" I don't see an option to restore specific files. I would need to restore the full disk?

@Nick To restore specific files from an Azure virtual machine backup, you can follow these steps**:**

Sign in to the Azure portal and navigate to the virtual machine that you want to restore files from.

In the virtual machine's menu, select Backup to open the Backup dashboard.

In the Backup dashboard menu, select File Recovery.

In the File Recovery blade, select the recovery point that contains the files you want to restore.

In the File Recovery blade, select the files or folders that you want to restore.

In the File Recovery blade, select the Download button to download the files to your local machine, or select the Restore button to restore the files to the virtual machine.

Note that this feature is available only for Azure virtual machines deployed using the Resource Manager model and protected to a Recovery Services vault. Also, file recovery from an encrypted VM backup is not supported.

Thank you for your help. I looked at our backup items and we have the following backups:

Azure Virtual Machine

There is another backup "Azure Storage (Azure Files)" Is that the type of backup I need to be able to restore single files or folders?
