The options are grayed out because the settings are controlled by group policy. You need to check whether you have configured this policy: Security Zones: Do not allow users to add/delete sites. This policy will prevents users from adding or removing sites from security zones.
In addition, If you want to add the site to the Trusted Sites zone. You can also add sites directly in the policy: Trusted Sites zone.
- Open Edit group policy
- Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page*Site to Zone Assignment List*
- Input your site, value 2. Then click Apply. (Internet Explorer has 4 security zones, numbered 1-4, and these are used by this policy setting to associate sites to zones. They are: (1) Intranet zone, (2) Trusted Sites zone, (3) Internet zone, and (4) Restricted Sites zone.)
- Your site will appear in the list of trusted sites.
