Hello,

User runs Windows 11.

User has been reporting random hangs over the last few months. Hangs correspond with the following Events:

Event ID:1002: The program explorer.exe version 10.0.22621.1992 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Event ID: 1001: Fault bucket, type 0. Event Name: AppHangB1. Response: Not available. Cab Id:0

Problem signature: P1: explorer.exe.

I know this is a rather generic issue, but any suggestions on action to take would be greatly appreciated.

Thus far I have checked:

  • Programs & Features: No abnormal applications installed.
  • Disk Space: 378 GB free.
  • RAM: 16 GB

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rudy

Try restarting File Explorer using Task Manager and check if this quick method solves the problem.

Press the Windows and X keys and click on Command Prompt (Admin). Then run the following commands one by one:

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If the hanging issue is recent, consider whether you've installed any new software or updates around the time the issue started. Try uninstalling recently installed applications to see if the issue persists. You may comsider a Clean boot.

Make sure Windows is updated to the latest.

    Hi.

We recommend that you try two methods:

    1. Restart Explorer.exe: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager, then right-click Windows Explorer and select “Restart” to restart Windows Explorer.

2.Perform a clean boot to see if any third-party application or service is causing the problem. Please refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

    Hope the information is helpful.

    Best Regards,
