Hello,

I bought a NUC to use as a headless server to run a pfSense firewall and router for my network, everything works perfectly except for the keyboard.

When using the RDP App from my MacOS Ventura 13.5 (Intel) I can type normally while using windows apps, but when I try to use the command line (CMD, PowerShell, and also when connecting to Linux machines via the Hyper-V Manager) no letters and numbers can be typed. Curiously the Enter, Backspace, TAB and the arrow keys still work. The only possible way to type into these windows is by using the On-Screen keyboard.

When I log into the same NUC from a windows 10 RDP app, the problem doesn't happens. I can type everywhere normally. So it is definitely a problem only the MacOS version has. Nevertheless, when I use the same RDP MacOS app to connect to other Windows computers, both at home and at work, I have absolutely no problem typing anywhere.

It is only this combination of Hardware and Software that presents a problem. A few more details:

My computer is a MacBook A2251, running MacOS Ventura 13.5 (Intel), the RDP App is downloaded from the App Store and updated to the latest version, the NUC is the model AK34 from AWOW, with a fresh Windows 10 reinstall supplied by AWOW (the problem also happened before the reinstall and also when I tried with Windows Server Core 2019). This computer does not have PS/2 keyboard or Mouse ports (only USB), and the problem happens with them connected or not. All HID, USB and RDP Keyboard drivers are apparently in order.

All computers involved have the keyboard set up as EN_US to avoid any configuration or inconsistency problems.

Of course I can gladly supply more details if necessary.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

    Hello there,

If you're experiencing a bug in the Remote Desktop App for macOS where no letters or numbers are typed in the command line, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    Check Keyboard Input Settings:

Make sure that your keyboard input settings are correctly configured within both the Remote Desktop App and your macOS system preferences.

In the Remote Desktop App, go to "Preferences" > "Keyboard" and ensure that the keyboard settings are set appropriately.

    Update Remote Desktop App:

Ensure that you are using the latest version of the Remote Desktop App. Bugs are often fixed in newer versions, so updating might resolve the issue.

    Restart the App:

Close the Remote Desktop App and reopen it. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

    Check Remote Host Configuration:

Verify that the remote host's settings are configured correctly. There might be compatibility issues if the host is not properly set up to handle keyboard input.

    Check Remote Session Settings:

If the issue is specific to a particular remote session, check the session settings on the remote machine to ensure that keyboard input is enabled and configured correctly.

    Keyboard Shortcuts:

Check if any keyboard shortcuts within the Remote Desktop App are conflicting with typing in the command line. Disable any conflicting shortcuts

Hope this resolves your Query !!
