So I've created One main Sharepoint site, with the idea that I'd like multiple pages created inside that main site for each of our different accounts. In each of these pages, I'd like a News section at the top where we can go in to the page and post any news that are relevant to that account only, yet they would all show up as a whole on the main Sharepoint page.
But what happens is that it seems that they're all connected. I can go into the page and try to select to only show news on the webpart from "This Site", but it shows everything from the other pages along with the current page. If I choose "Select Sites", this page does not show up because it's not a "site".
I tried creating a subsite with the same account name as the page and while it works, it seems a bit much to create a whole new "site" under the main one. It also has problems where it doesn't find any of the "recent uploads" if trying to choose thumbnails for quick links or anything. It's like starting from scratch again and I don't want to have to build from scratch with 20+ sites. Another problem is when I create a news post there, it seems to create a whole new "Site" under the main page! That is just ridiculous. I can't imagine trying to post news every day and my sites list would get inundated, not being able to locate the main site in a sea of "sites". Although, it does seem to keep the News section separate on the subsite as I want, AND it shows on the main site which is good. But there has to be an easier route.
Yet another problem: A Subsite does not seem to look the same as a new Page. I like the way the Page option displays an image that spans across the top with some overlay text and more options. A "subsite" doesn't seem to have this feature. It only lets you insert an image and you can't even span it all the say across or format it the same.
I'm thinking I may have to just abandon the idea of posting news in each page for it's corresponding account and just have a News section on the main page for everything. Was I asking too much from this?
