How to reduce Azure Bill

I'm learning Azure by following one Pluralsight course, within the confines of my four walls. Unfortunately, I don't have any friend to get clarification even for small doubts also.

I found the increase of my Azure bill like below. Azure Bill

After some analysis, I felt and understood like I've got this much bill since I've used S1 instance on Aug-06 evening. S1 instance costs too much eventhough I shut down the instance. Please confirm me if my assumption is right.

Can someone please let me know how I can do analysis to understand which resource is causing the most bill? I should be in a position pin point that particular resource to take the next level action whether to delete it or something else. Hope I've given the complete information for others to help me.

    Some pointers:

    • Set a Budget and get alerts when you are approaching that budget
    • Use Cost Management views and set it in this way to view what resources are consuming the most money:
