retention policy causing performance issue

I have a user whose mailbox size is 107GB. The user did not have a retention policy. Mailbox is 10+ years old. I set a retention policy to remove anything over 2 years old. So far, since the policy was applied, the size has decreased to 67GB.

The issue is the user cannot use outlook. Getting prompt over and over for outlook credentials. It started around the time I set the policy. This mailbox is on prem. Exchange 2013 servers. Is this expected (performance, connectivity)? Is there any way for me to see what is going on?

Thanks

Hi @mara2021

Could you try changing the retention policy back again to check if the duplicate behavior is really due to the retention policy.

Another way is you could try to create a new profile.
