using SSMS 18.0, SQL SERVER 2022 and i am getting the error below. having windows 10 and visual studio 2015. i have installed ODBC 16, quietly already before it now went to this error. please need help urgently for my assignment.

you may want to try running the 32 bits version of Import/Export Wizard from SQL SSMS
Connect to an Excel Data Source (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
My preference is to export the excel file to CSV and import it directly from SSMS
In addition to Javier's answer: SSMS 18.0 is a very old version. The most recent is 19.1, you can get it here.
I now updated to ssms 19.1 and still same problem. I went directly to import and export from start menu (64bits) but still same problem. don't really know how to proceed
I guess it could help if we knew more what you are doing. Which steps are you taking before you come to this error?
