Hi everyone,

I'm using a server with Windows Server 2019 that is connected to an VSP E590 storage from Hitachi, I have a problem that my volumes doesn't have a good performance, due to this I contacted Hitachi support and they told me that my storage is working well and the issue is that my host (my server with Windows Server 2019) is using a blocksize of 256K when the recommended is 64K or below. Also the Queue Depth is 114 and the recommended is 32.

I can't change the blocksize for some things of my workloads, now my question is: Where can I modify the Queue Depth parameter?

As an additional information, the conecction between my server and the storage is by iSCSI

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,

To change the Queue Depth on the SCSI Initiator you need to follow the next stepsÑ

Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."

In Device Manager, expand the "Storage controllers" section.

There you can find iSCSI adapter listed here. It might have a name like "Microsoft iSCSI Initiator" or similar

Right-click on the iSCSI adapter and select "Properties."

    To change the Queue Depth:

In the Properties window, go to the "Advanced Settings"

Then find "Queue Depth" or "Outstanding I/Os."

Some users will experiment with some values between the current and more stable, using the storage after modifying the setting and see how if affects the performance. Start with the recommended value, the you can progressively increase to see if any improvement appears.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
