when i try to upload an ssl certificate it asks me for the private key password and then it doesnt upload.
What do you mean by "upload" an SSL certificate? Also, what commands are you running?
Anyhow, you need to have the private key associated with the certificate when you want to use them for TLS.
when i am setting up AD FS it says to import a certificate i have the private key but it doesnt import
Well, the certificate have to be installed in the computer's certificate store.
Can you send a screen shot of the certificate in the store (you can use the tool certlm.msc to see it)?
And can you send a screenshot of the error message you are getting?
i didnt get an error message when i import it asks me for the password and then closes the window
Install the certificate first in the store. Then pick it up from the drop down menu in the wizard.
