Sharepoint has added mystery passwords to zip files

A long while ago, I added some files to SharePoint in bulk. They had been downloaded from an encrypted site, and most importantly, were not originally zip files and did not have passwords on them. The files did not have passwords when they were downloaded to my PC, and were not zip files.

Unfortunately, coming back to them now, I have found that uploading them to SharePoint has somehow turned them into zip files (despite being quite small), and has added mystery passwords to all of the files so we cannot access them. I've tried every possible password in case it picked one at random, but nothing works.

Any ideas?

Hi SM412, I am glad to be able to help you.

According to my understanding of your description, this is indeed a strange issue, so I wanted to further determine if the issue is that a file that was previously uploaded to SharePoint suddenly became a zip file?

Per my knowledge, regarding automatic file packaging, it is possible that Power Automate automatically packages files. Therefore, I would recommend checking if any of the relevant flows were created to automatically package the files in the library.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards.
