Cannot start visual studio due to an error. Microsoft.ServiceHub.Client.ControllerConnectionException: Controller terminated before accepting condition. Exit code: -532462766

Upon opening Visual Studio Professional 2022, the following error appears:

Cannot start visual studio due to an error. Microsoft.ServiceHub.Client.ControllerConnectionException: Controller terminated before accepting condition. Exit code: -532462766

Steps taken to troubleshoot:

  • Ran a repair within the VS installer
  • Uninstalled VS Pro and the VS installer application from the control panel
  • Deleted the following file directories
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio
      • %programdata%\Microsoft\visualstudio\packages
        • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Reinstalled VS Pro
  • Tried to open in safe mode
  • Updated Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015-2022
  • Attempted to install the Community version (same error presented)
  • Ran VS Pro as an admin
	Machine specifications: Latitude 7420  16 GB 256 GB Win10

    We have received the same feedback from other users. It may be a potential issue with the VS2022.

    Please report a problem to product team through Visual Studio. It will include the necessary dumps and information to figure it out. 

    After you post it there, please kindly share the post link here so that someone who meets the same issue can refer to it. 

    By the way, an alternative is to install the VS2022 Professional version 17.6.1. You can download it from the page and it works normally.

    After the issue is fixed, you can update the VS to the latest version.
