Maintaining the MS Teams meeting chat history with new invitations?

I need help creating a new recurring MS Teams meeting and maintaining the chat history from an earlier related meeting.

I schedule via MS Outlook regular weekly, recurring project meetings that are held via MS Teams. I usually set these for three months of recurring mtgs and sometimes must add another three months of meetings because the project takes longer than initially expected. An example is - every Tues at 11am for April 1-June 30 and then add another three months of the same meeting for July 1-Sept 30. Some of those April-June meetings must be rescheduled to another dates/times during April-June so I prefer to not change the April-June meeting invite to extend it to April-Sept. I have found that changing the Range of Recurrence on a mtg invite will give me the msg that all mtgs from this invite will revert to the original mtg date/time rather than leave those changed April-June dates/times on my calendar. Therefore I start a new meeting invite for the July 1-Sept 30 period, but with the new invite I lose the chat history from the April 1-June 30 mtgs.

I have found that I can copy and paste the Microsoft Teams Meeting content (mtg ID, passcode, phone options, etc) from the April1-June 30 mtg series into the new July 1-Sept 30 mtg invite, but Outlook wants to sync the Microsoft Teams Meeting content to the "Microsoft Teams Meeting" link that appears in the Location field. The resulting Outlook msg gives me Yes/No/Cancel options for syncing the content to the Location link. If I click No, I get pushed back to my invite - as if I was going to change something. I have periodically been able to get around this by deleting the "Microsoft Teams Meeting" link from the Location field and clicking Yes. However, when I try to change a mtg date/time on the new meeting invite with the old Microsoft Teams meeting content/details, I get the msg box that says the invite cannot be sent and the Yes/No/Cancel options mentioned above. Even if I try deleting the Microsoft Teams Meeting link, Outlook will not send the invite for the changed date/time on the new recurring mtg series with the old Microsoft Teams Meeting content/details in the body of the email.

How can I extend my meeting invitations and not lose my chat history or my previously changed mtg dates/times on some of the invites in the original series?

    Hi @Dakin, Jennifer

As far as I know, the Meeting URL never expires and expires only in relation to any PSTN dial-in numbers, CVI coordinates, and/or underlying conferencing policies and settings. Even if the meeting invitation time has passed, you can still join the meeting through the previous link.

To extend a recurring meeting without losing your records, you can only update the original meeting time in Teams or Outlook calendar. The two are synchronous and only one needs to be updated.

Update meeting time steps from Teams:

Go to Teams calendar> right-click and select Edit > Update Meeting Time> Send Update.

To update meeting time steps from Outlook:

Outlook Calendar > right-click and select Open Series> Update Meeting Time > Send Update.
