Speech to text service constantly cancelling with Quota exceeded. Cid: websocket error code: 1007

Hi,

I am working on an application where a user has a back and forth discussion with an AI.

I am capturing the speech to text using

this.speechRecognizer.startContinuousRecognitionAsync(

It was always working nicely for a little while until it started cancelling the session almost immediately as it opened with the error: Quota exceeded. Cid: websocket error code: 1007

I am the only user with one browser tab open and I'm not using it heavily, just development usage - once every few minutes at most.

I was using the free account so upgraded to the standard pay as you go account, however, this has made no difference... I'm not sure where to go next, any ideas would be great.

@Sean McAlinden I would suggest to try and check the following before you can retry using the same setup with your application.

Try to use the speech studio speech to text tool and pass your audio file or use the microphone to transcribe. If you see similar error message then your speech resource is yet to scale its resource or it has not correctly reflected the change in pricing tier of your resource.

In most cases, it is a case of speech resource not able to scale up as the rate of request is higher than the limits i.e TPM that is applicable for the service. The service estimates the TPM limit based on the number of requests received for a period of few seconds. So, if the limit exceeds in these few seconds, the quota error exceeded error is thrown.

If you are still seeing issues with the service, you can always request a higher limit through a support case from azure portal.

Hi Romungi,

Thanks for your reply, I think you are right, I've created a new resource, this time starting as standard and it seems good so far - I think there might be an issue when upgrading from the free tier.
