Hello All, I'm on an environment where congratulation manager exist with a CAS and 2 primary site servers underneath it ,a hardware change is mandatory so I suggested to migrate the environment to a new one without a CAS , the question is I have a AD site with about 18K devices and another one with 9K devices , can we use only one primary site? of yes how to deal with other site, is it as simple as pitting distribution points and management points to that remote site ? or it is better to keep the CAS om this scenarios

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

1,==>The question is I have a AD site with about 18K devices and another one with 9K devices , can we use only one primary site?

Yes, one primary site is enough. A stand-alone primary site supports 175,000 total clients and devices. Refer to:

Size and scale numbers for Configuration Manager

2,==>How to deal with other site, is it as simple as pitting distribution points and management points to that remote site ? or it is better to keep the CAS om this scenarios

Per my experience, putting distribution points and management points to that remote site is suitable for this scenario. However. it is recommended to do lab test before changing your product environment. Refer to:

Cross Forest Support in ConfigMgr 2012 Part 3: Deploying Site Server / Site Systems in an Untrusted Forest.

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Simon
