Hello thanks in advance, I have Endpoint CM 2002 instaled like primary site, also I have WSUS installed in my site server where I have implemented my SUP, the site server WSUS sync from an existent upstream WSUS. My question is, both WSUS's, the site server and the upstream have to download patches? it is not a waste of space to have patches downloaded in both servers, mi primary corcern it's because I don´t have enough free space on mi CM, How can I do to get only the Upstream WSUS download and distribute the patches?

wsus should not be downloading su. But keep in mind that your primary site will need a copy of the su and so will each dp.
Hello, thanks for your answer, but could you be a litle more specific? which WSUS couldn't download that one installed in the server site? or the upstreaming WSUS installed like stand alone? which is the configuration in this case, because the SUP wizard ask for a path or share to download the pacthes and an the same time the upstream WSUS download the patches.
How much free space do you have now? Where are your DPs? CM require lot of space, particularly if your DPs are on the same server as your primary site.
Hello Garth, thanks again for your answer, I have 500GB of space my DPs are in same server I have only one server with SCCM, but my point is, both wsus require to download patches? there is some way to avoid my Server Site download patches and users can download patches from the upstreaming WSUS?
500 Gb is not a lot of space for a single server CM primate site. Particularly if you do OS deployment.
CM clients don't download SU from WSUS. They download them from your DP. Your site server MUST have a copy of the SU to deploy to your DP. This copy of SU can be a remote location BUT you will not want to use the WSUS download folder.
WSUS itself does NOT need to download the SU. CM and handle this task. Sharing an upstream WSUS server can cause problems if things are not done right.
Thanks again Garth,, but about my question there is not a way to avoid to have a copy of the pacthes, one in the upstream server and another in the wsus site server (localy o remote)? because is not eficient and economic waste shared storage between two WSUS, I thought Microsoft had realized about this waste and had a solution.

What EXACTLY is your up steam WSUS server used for? When CM is using WSUs there is NO need for WSUS to download SU. (unless it is airgapped)

We could download the update on the side of an upstream WSUS, and agree with GarthJones, the update could be downloaded on the side the SCCM site not WSUS, and copied the content to the ContentLib, finally the content could be copied to the DP.
