I have a Dell laptop with Windows 11 Home. The SSD has been partitioned into 2 drives, both of which have Bitlocker encryption, but the encryption is for Used Space only. Is it possible for me to partition either of these drives without crashing my system?

    Hello there,

Typically, most partition software does not work to partition the BitLocker encrypted partition/drive.

However, if you have a drive that is already encrypted with BitLocker and you want to partition it, you can do so using the built-in Disk Management tool or a third-party partitioning tool. The encryption itself should not prevent you from partitioning the drive

Hope this resolves your Query !!

Disk encryption in Windows 11 Home is "Windows Device Encryption".

You can disable Windows Device Encryption.

    Hi.

As far as I know, it is not possible to split a partition on a BitLocker encrypted drive without turning encryption off. You can see this in Disk Management: right-click the partition and you will see that the “Shrink Volume…” option is gray and disabled. There is no other option than turning encryption off, then shrinking the partition and creating the second partition in the new unallocated space. Do not try to shrink the partition using any third-party product. Be sure to backup first your entire disk from inside Windows, in addition to the backup of your data.

    Hope the information is helpful.

    Best Regards,
