Dear Community,

with the last version from Edge (116.0.1938.54), we see, that MS have a 2nd shortcurt on the desktop created, for private and business profile. The users are confusing..
How can I prevent this via GPO? We only use 1 standardprofil.

Thank you.

    Hi @Daniel Puls,

with the last version from Edge (116.0.1938.54), we see, that MS have a 2nd shortcurt on the desktop created, for private and business profile.

As far as I know, Microsoft Edge does not automatically create a new profile. I think this may be caused by user's wrong operation.

How can I prevent this via GPO? We only use 1 standardprofil.

If you need Edge to always use one profile, you can try configuring this group policy: Default Profile Setting Enabled. As described, as long as the --profile-directory attribute is not specified, this policy can always use the default profile when opening Microsoft Edge.

    Group Policy (ADMX) info

    • GP unique name: EdgeDefaultProfileEnabled
    • GP name: Default Profile Setting Enabled
    • GP path (Mandatory): Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge/Identity and sign-in

Please check if this work for you.

    Best regards,

    Thank you, .
The issue here is the creation of the 2nd shortcut on the desktop of the enduser. That is confusing for a "normal enduser" and creates some traffice in the helpdesk. How can we prevent this or regulate with GPO?
