Azure VPN - AD Authentication & Azure Certificate

Hi Guys,

I'm running an Azure VPN with AAD Authentication for Win & Mac users.

I have an Ubuntu Desktop user who needs to connect to this VPN so he can access several servers via RDP, so i was wondering if i can have this VPN doing both AAD & Azure Certificate authentication.

Is it possible to have this VPN working for Win/Mac users as well as Linux?

I'll appreciate any info on this issue.

Having multiple authentication types in a single VPN Gateway PS2 in fact what i am looking for, this in order to have Win/Mac as well as Linux users connected to the same VPN.

I've gone trough the instructions on both ends (Server-Client) with no luck so far.

Pretty much did OpenVpn and stronSwang (ikev2) on client side and i keep getting random errors while trying to establish the connections.

So i'm planning on virtualizing a new ubuntu desktop and start from scratch and i'll continue to have you posted with the upcoming errors.

I understand that you would like to know if you could use multiple authentication types in a single VPN Gateway P2S Connections.

Yes, this is a supported scenario.

This exact requirement is documented here :

Configure a point-to-site VPN connection to a VNet using multiple authentication types

I believe you will be using "OpenVPN (SSL)" Tunnel type as of now.

For certificate based authentication, you will be required to use "IKEv2 and OpenVPN (SSL)" as the Tunnel type

To configure certificate based auth:

Server Side : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/vpn-gateway/vpn-gateway-howto-point-to-site-resource-manager-portal

Client Side : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/vpn-gateway/point-to-site-vpn-client-cert-linux
