Dear Community members,

I created two user accounts on my daughter's computer. One with an administrator right for myself and the other with a standard right for my daughter. By mistake, I put a blocked sign-in in mine . Now, only my daughter is able to sign in, but some of the applications requiring admin rights no longer work. Keep asking her for an admin information. I tried to bring up a built-in administrator which comes with Windows 11 Home by using command prompt, powershell, and control panel users, however, they all required me to provide admin info; there was no place I could type in. I even tried the power management tool, but it didn't show users group ( saying I only have the standard right).

Is there a way I can get my administrator account restored or use built-in administrator? I hope I don't need to reset Windows back to factory setting because my daughter has lot of apps and settings on her computer.

Your help will be greatly appreciated

Sincerely

Al Leung

    Hi,

You can try to enable the built-in local administrator account. To enable it, start your computer in Safe Mode and open Command Prompt to run the command

    net user administrator /active:yes
