vbs files doesn't work - "There is no script file specified."

Hello everybody,

I have some strange problems with running .vbs files.

We have some installation scripts in the company running with .vbs, but nobody can help me with this problem and it's very annoying.

If I try to run a .vbs file there is just this little window showing "There is no script file specified."

I found some troubleshootings with missing registry entries, but it seems everything is fine, anyway the error is slightly different - I cannot find the exact same error message online. (There are many error with this message, but the window shows more information than mine)

I hope somebody had the right advice to fix this annoying problem.

Did you try to start the script manually in Console or Terminal window?

The command is: wscript SomeFile.vbs

Probably some Registry settings, related to file associations, are incorrect.

Try to execute assoc .vbs from command line. The typical result is .vbs=VBSFile.

Based on previous result, execute ftype VBSFile. The result should be like VBSFile="%SystemRoot%\System32\WScript.exe" "%1" %*.

Maybe you can use ftype, then assoc, to restore the association. See ftype/? or check the documentation for these commands.

This worked for me! The String was vbsfile="C:\windows\System32\WScript.exe" ""

So I changed it with assoc to add the parameter-part. Now everything runs as expected.
