Damaged sticker with product key Windows 7

Question

Hello,

i have HP Pavilion DV6 notebook with preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, recently my hard disk failed to start. I also realized that my sticker with product id is teared and i have only first 10 digits my product key (first 10 signs alphanumeric code from 25). Could You help me recreate my product id form my notebook serial number or maybe based on first 10 signis ?

Hello Sebastian,

If you can get into Windows 7 there are some tools that can be used to retrieve a product key. ( Third party tools, not Microsoft tools).

Newer releases of Windows store the product key online tied to your MSA account.

But as far as I know there isn't a way to retrieve a product key using the serial number of the machine nor can it be regenerated from teh first 10 digits of the product key.

Unfortunately, I can't help you recreate your product key from the first 10 digits of your notebook serial number or product key. The product key is a 25-character alphanumeric code that is unique for each Windows installation and cannot be derived from any other information.

It is recommended that you contact the manufacturer.
