When i created a DFS folder Target is shows up with a shortcut. so when the users hits the DFS it takes them to a shortcut to the storage (net-app). Is there a way to configure the DFS to automatically select the shortcut? Here is how i am set up.

Namespace servers Status Path
Server1 Enabled \server.domain\temp
Server2 Enabled \server.domain\temp

Folder Target
Status Path
Enabled \Net-app\temp

When a user types in \domain\temp it takes them to a folder location with just the Shortcut named temp that then takes them to the storage. Can this be bypassed?

    HI @Richard L ,

You could simply map the DFS share as a network drive by using "map network drives" under This PC, or map the DFS share with Group Policy directly to the storage.

When you map the DFS share, simply map it as \domain\temp\<folder the user wants to directly see>

    Hi,

For example ,in my lab i created a DFS-N ,the root name is public, under the root , there are 3 links .And each links have one or more folder targets.
When i have to access the content in the folder targets through DFS-N , I need to find it through \domian\public(dfs-n root )\605(link) and then i can enter the folder targets.

So based on my understanding ,it is how the DFS-N works. We need the Virtual connection to help us get the resource.
Or we can access it through :\server name\share folder ,but in this way ,i need to remember the server name and what's content in it which is very difficult in a large environment .

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

If you want to use the DFS-N to access the resource, i don't think it is possible .We can't change the way it works.
Or you can consider using a mapping drive.

    Best Regards,
