Dear Community,

We have a User named Rita who is resiging pretty soon and since her Data is really Important and we have decided to give her Ownership to Hailey during her presence to avoid any issues later. I want to give Ownership of her OneDrive|Teams|Microsoft Forms to hailey so once Rita Resigns and her Account gets deleted her data of OneDrive|Teams|Microsoft Forms doesnot get deleted and is accessible by Hailey.

Below is the List of My Questions:

  • How can I give Ownership of her OneDrive to hailey so once Rita Resigns and her Account gets deleted her data of OneDrive does not get deleted and is accessible by Hailey?
  • How can we take Rita's Teams Chat Backup?
  • What happens to the shared Links? Will they still be Accessible When I am moving OneDrive ownership of that Resigning user to another User?
  • Will other users be still able to acess the shared Files through same Links which were shared by Rita or will those Files have to be re-shared again by Hailey after the Ownership has been changed?
  • We also want to move Rita's Microsoft Forms Ownership to Hailey? How can we do that as well?
  • Is there a way to find which Onedrive files are currently being shared by Rita?

    Hi @Seema Kanwal Gurmani

Teams tag is mainly focused on the general issue of Microsoft Teams troubleshooting. According to your description, some of the problems involve OneDrive which is not in our support scope. In order to better help you solve the problem, we suggest you add the OneDrive tag to your post.

How can we take Rita's Teams Chat Backup:

You must be an administrator of the organization to have access to users' chat history.

1.Firstly, open Office 365 and sign in.

2.Now click on the app launcher followed by “Admin.”

3.Select “Compliance” from the list of Admin Centers.

4.Click “Content search” on the left side menu.

5.After that, click on “+New search” in the “Search” tab.

6.Enter a name and description for the search, then click “Next.”

7.Ensure the “Exchange mailboxes” location is toggled on, then click “Next.”

8.Click “+ Add condition,” select “Type,” check the “Instant messages” box, then click “Next.”

    9.Click on “Submit,” then “Done.”

10.Now, in the Content search panel, click on the new search that you created.

    11.Click on the “Actions“ button.

12.Choose the “Export results” option, then click the “Export” button.

13.Go back to Content search and click on the “Export“ tab.

14.Wait for the download to become available, then click “Download results.”

15.Scroll down and click “Copy to clipboard” to copy the export key.

16.Install the eDiscovery Export Tool when prompted.

17.Paste the key into the eDiscovery Export Tool, “Browse” a save location, then click “Save.”

The solution that you shared is giving me Chat history or audit trail etc. whom the user texted and timing etc. and other data. That is not my requirement. My requirement is Chat Backup, the messages itself.

    Thanks.
