Hello folks,
Currently, we are having an issue on Visual Studio 2022 on Remote Debugger. We are trying to debug an Azure Ap Service, however we encountering an issue to login a credential to the remote host. We tried the publish profile credential, but we could get NOT authenticated.
Here is how we enter the credential once its prompted:

Visual studio requires symbol files for your source code in order to debug your application running on app services. Symbol files are created in the
bindirectory as part of the build process and end with a.pdbextension.symbol files are instructional bridge between compiled code and source code. When an application is compiled and deployed to Azure, Visual Studio doesn't automatically have access to the necessary symbol files, so you must provide a local copy of them during debugging. The local source code and symbol files must exactly match the deployed code so that the instructions line up correctly.

2023-08-30T17:43:49.5266667+00:00 Does the debugger process need to be running at the server (so Azure Dev in this case), so that my local VS is the client? Also, do the credential prompt a normal thing?

So is this an Azure App Service issue?

Can you check whether the Remote Debugging is enabled or not under configuration in General settings of your app service as shown below
Remote Debugger on Azure App serviceuses port 4024 make sure that this port is enabled on your corporate firewall network.
You can also refer to this troubleshooting guide about unable to connect to visual studio remote debugging.

- If your visual studio Version is less than VS2022 17.2.0 using Debug\Attach in VS you must add port :4024 to the end of the Url. refer to this documentation for more information about remote debugger port assignment in app service.

Here is the result if I use 'Connection Type' as 'Default' and 'Connection Target' as <my_azure_app_service>:4024
Then, we could NOT figure it out what credential we have to use. We've the Publish Profile credential and it is NOT working. We did try using the 'Connection Type' as 'Microsoft Azure App Service', then it found the App Service, but could not connect to it, as in my comment on August 30th.

JAMES H MCCUTCHEN 0 Reputation points2023-10-04T19:07:23.45+00:00 I'm having the exact same issue as above. I only get this when I'm on the corporate network and corporate device. At first I was just getting that unknown error above. Then I had my security team enter the appropriate firewall rules and now I get the authentication issues mentioned above. It works no problem when I try from a personal PC or a VM. Please help!
