Hi,

Outlook won't start, unexpected erro occurs when loading profile.

Environment:

Windows 11 Pro

Connected to Azure AD

Deleting profile didn't help.

The only way to load outlook:

  • disconnect windows from azure ad and use local account.

OR

  • install windows 10, connect to AD, set up outlook (no error in Windows 10) and then upgrade to windows 11.

Same issue occurs on different accounts from same tenant.

Any ideas?

    Hi @Paulius Mo

For our better research, please provide more information about this case:

Does an unexpected error have an error code or other error message? Can you provide screenshots or other relevant information?

What is Outlook client version? Please make sure to update to the latest version.

Depending on your description, it may be that your Windows 11 user profile contains Unicode characters.

If your Windows device is AzureAD-joined and you sign into Windows with your AzureAD account, your Windows user profile will be built with your AzureAD display name. If your AzureAD display name includes a Unicode character, it will be used in your Windows user profile name as well.

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps to change your regional settings:

    1. Open Control Panel, and select Change date, time, or number formats.
    2. In the Region dialog box on the Administrative tab, select Change system locale.
    3. In the Region Settings dialog box, select the check box for Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support.
    4. Select OK and when prompted, restart Windows.
    5. Open Outlook. It should start without displaying the error message.
    6. Open the Region Settings dialog box again, uncheck the check box for Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support and restart your computer.
