To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:
- Following the steps in the Workaround 2 and 3 sections of this article: You receive an error message when you try to open an Office document.
- If the issue persists, try to open the file on your Windows laptop and save it again as a Word document. Then, upload the new file to OneDrive and try to open it on your iPad.
- If the issue still persists, try to download a copy of the file from OneDrive to your iPad and open it in a different app that supports Word documents.
