    Hello Tursun Jung,

Welcome to the MS Q&A forum.

Could you kindly provide more details about your end goal and OS what you need to reinstall on Azure VM?

Reinstalling the operating system (OS) on an Azure Virtual Machine (VM) mostly involves creating a new VM with a fresh OS image and optionally attaching existing disks from the old VM to migrate your data.

Here are the public tutorials to help you to achieve it:

In addition, you can build your server on the Hyper-V host (Rescue VM) and access/troubleshoot it there as you would do in your on-prem environment:

Let us know if you need additional assistance. If the answer was helpful, please accept it and complete the quality survey so that others can find a solution.

    Sincerely,

    Hello Olga,

I understand this might be an unusual request, but we find ourselves in a challenging situation.

Rather than recreating the VM with all its settings, which is quite time-consuming, we would prefer to simply reinstall the original image on the same machine, retaining all the configurations, IP, network, disk, etc.

In this scenario, a backup wouldn’t be necessary.

I realize this might sound unconventional, but there are cases where reinstalling the OS that was originally selected for the VM is the most efficient approach.

For your information, this can be done on most of the major cloud VM providers.
