Hello,

I am working on a project where I need to give external users access to my SharePoint 2016. My company (A) needs to create two team sites for two other companies (X and Y).

Here are my questions:

  1. Can I share a team site with external users?
  2. If yes, will they have the same access as my organization's users? If not, what are the limitations?
  3. Can I share my team site with users who don't have Microsoft accounts, such as Gmail users?

Any additional resources to help me implement this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

SharePoint On-premises doesn’t have feature to share sites with external users by default.

You need to extend the web application and implement identity providers such as ADFS.
