Can we remove AADDS safely

Hello,

I have been asked to remove any unused resources in our Azure Active Directory Tenant. I have removed most of the unused resources, but I am a bit reluctant to just remove AADDS, as I am not entirely sure if we are still using it for anything.

I have been told that it is a historical resource, that was used when we had an office presence and a hybrid Azure AD set up, so we can remove it.

We historically had an office AD set up, that was entirely office based, with domain controllers etc. and we moved to a hybrid set up a few years ago, but have now moved out of the office entirely, and everything is Azure cloud based.

My question is, can we check if we are using this for anything before removing it, or can we disable it, so that it can be turned back on, if we do see any issues.

The only option that I can see is removing it completely, but if it is still being used, this could affect live services, so I would prefer an option that I know will not affect our users, or if it does, can be rolled back quickly.

Thanks in advance

Karl

If you no longer need Azure Active Directory Domain Services, you can delete it. There is no option to disable it temporarily and the deletion operation is permanent, you can not reverse that.

Refer the following article to understand more about the deletion.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory-domain-services/delete-aadds

To understand more about Azure ADDS, refer https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/active-directory/ds

    Hope this helps
