Microsoft 365, Outlook with external mail server

We are interested in using 365 services including Outlook, Teams, and OneNote. However, we have a preference to retain our existing mail server for specific considerations. Although we may consider transitioning in the future, it is not an immediate priority. Our current mailserver is not an exchange server, it is a standard IMAP server.

The question is if it is possible to keep our current mail server while utilizing Outlook exclusively for email correspondence. Concurrently, we seek to integrate Teams, OneNote, and the Outlook calendar like Microsoft thought it. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi @JB105

Unfortunately in normal cases it is not possible to integrate Teams with a third-party mailbox, as Teams stores chat messages, calendar events, free busy status and other data in the corresponding Exchange mailbox.

For more details please refer to this link:

How Exchange and Microsoft Teams interact

For example, if you create a Teams meeting on the Outlook calendar of the mailbox hosted by third-party server, this meeting won't reflect in Teams.
