Hello,

I have shared printer on windows-network based print server.

-The name of server is PRINT

-the server is a member of my domain with FQDN (printserver.domain.com)

-I add a shared printer named myprinter.

Now, from my computer I connect this printer by IP Address and the server name "PRINT". It is ok.

But, I can t connect this printer by FQDN name. It gives Error 709Error and

When I control with wireshark , Protocols "SPOOLSS" give info such that "OpenPrinterEx respnse, Invalid printer name".

Can you help me please?I can t solve this problem for a long time. ( may be it is not the same server name (PRINT) and the FQDN(printserver.domain.com)

NOTE: we connect this via PRINT.domain.com but not printserver.domain.com.

    Hi

In windows explorer you should be able to do \print.domain.com, and it will list the shared item (printer and/or folder)

Let us know if connecting that way work, if not, I suspect you have a DNS issue inside that computer, ty a ping print.domain.com to rule out if the computer return the correct IP for that system.

    I have a strange problem

I have a print server - several printers on it. All in a domain

Same network - different server -> Connect the printers via Print-server gives following issues:

connect server without fqdn is possible:
    e.g.: printserver\printer
Connect with fqdn gives windows error:
    e.g. printserver.domain.local\printer
    Windows Error details 0x000002
Nothing else. CRM Programm states server not found.
I can open explorer and see printers on the printserver with and without fqdn
    \printerserver & \printerserver.domain.local
But with FQDN Printers are not found. -> Windows error.
Same when connecting through cmd, add printer in control panel etc.
