Dear All,
unfortunatley I cannot close my outlook.com account. In the final step I got this message
"You need to leave your work organization
Before we can take any action, you must leave your work organization. After you cancel your active subscriptions, you should return to this page to complete the account closure process.
Go to my work organization"
When I click on "Go to my work organization" I have to verifz my identiy. However the mobile number is not anymore my numbe and I do not have the mobile phone anymore.
I don't see anz option to change this number. However my outlook account itself has my correct new mobile number and it works fine.
How can I remove this old number and close my outlook.com account?

Sounds like you may have a work and personal account using the same email address? If so you can follow along here to rename the personal account.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it did not help. It still asks for my old mobile number that I've used years ago. I tried once years ago Azure and obviously as you mentioned it was used also for the work account. Any other idea?

Unfortunately no progress and not answer from support at all. It's disappointing. I'll wait some days more. Just some more technical details:
I've lived for a couple of years in another country where I had a mobile phone. During that time I've tried Azure for a couple of days. As you've explained this account was connected to the account I'd like to close now.
Meanwhile I live in my home country and do not have the mobile phone of the other country anymore. So when I try to close my account it is asking me to login to my organizational account (obviously because of Azure), but here I cannot proceed as I do not have this mobile phone anymore. As I have access to my account I would expect I could change it so that I close my account. I can't hardly believe I'm the first person moving from one country ot another.

Not updating your security info ahead of time has caused the disconnect. I wouldn't worry about it too much. A microsoft account closes after 2 years of inactivity.
