After that all desktop icons have white icons, same to the icons in the start menu.

It happend to all programs. Folder do not have that problem.

I allready tried to recreate the iconcashe.db, but that not fixed that problem.

    Hello

Do you clear all the icon caches in the following two paths?

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local

    C:\Users\John McNally\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*

To verify whether the issue is related to the specific account, we could try to login with another account or login with a new account then check the issue.

If the issue occurred with the new account, we may consider to check the system health with administrator then run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" or "sfc /scannow".

    Best Regards,

    Wesley Li
