I'm having an issue with our PXE imaging process. Our older pc's and laptops are able to be reimaged over the network by using a network cable but, our new laptops won't allow the image unless we use a USB-C to Network adapter.

What can I do to allow the newer pc's to be imaged without the adapter?

    Hello

I understand your concern. PXE (Preboot Execution Environment) booting is a valuable and time-saving feature for businesses and power users. However, newer laptops, especially those without a built-in Ethernet port, can sometimes pose challenges.

Here are some steps you can take to enable PXE booting on newer laptops:

Access BIOS or UEFI settings: Press the F2 key several times at the logo screen during startup. Alternatively, you may press the F12 key several times at the logo screen during startup and select BIOS Setup or System Setup from the menu.

Enable PXE boot in BIOS: Go to General > Boot Sequence, then select to enable Windows Boot Manager. Go to General > Advanced Boot Options, then select Enable UEFI Network Stack.

Enable USB Boot Support: Since these newer Latitude laptop models do not have a NIC connection, check to enable Enable USB Boot Support under System Configuration >USB Configuration.

Enable Thunderbolt boot support: Check to enable Thunderbolt, Enable Thunderbolt Boot Support, and Enable TBT (and PCIE behind TBT) Pre-boot Modules under System Configuration->Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration.

Disable Secure Boot: Depending on how your PXE server is configured, it may be necessary to disable Secure Boot Enable under General->Secure Boot->Secure Boot Enable temporarily until after image deployment is complete.

Set Fastboot to Thorough: Under Post Behavior, Fastboot needs to be set to Thorough.

Please note that this may vary depending on the make and model of your laptops.
